E-LAB Test Facility

Lumen’s E-LAB is an environmental test laboratory located at Lumen’s Head Office in Melbourne. Within this facility, our products are tested and validated according to global automotive standards and customer specific requirements. The E-LAB enables Lumen to adhere to strict internal quality standards, perform rapid product validation and provide customers with cost-effective testing. Due to the high demand of the E-LAB, Lumen has recently undertaken a laboratory upgrade. The new 185m² E-LAB facility has enabled Lumen to upgrade their testing capabilities through the use of the latest in test equipment.

KEY TESTING CAPABILITIES

ENVIRONMENTAL TESTS & MEASUREMENTS:​

  • Low Temperature Range: -10±2C to -40±2C

  • High Temperature Range: +40± 2C to +200±2C

  • Thermal Shock Tests: -40±2C to +150±2C

  • Combined Temperature and Humidity Test:

  1. Temperature Range: +30± 2C to +150±2C

  2. Humidity Range: 10±3%RH to +98±3%RH

  • Water Resistance Tests

  • Temperature and Humidity Measurements

ROUTINE INSPECTION:​

  • Cross Section Examination of Connector Terminals

  • Microscope Examinations (up to 100 x Magnification)

VIBRATION TESTS:​

  • Random and Sinusoidal Vibrations (5Hz to 200Hz)

MECHANICAL TESTS:​

  • Tensile and Compression Test (0 to 1000N)

  • Crimp Integrity

  • Impact and Drop Test

  • Protection against foreign objects (IP1X to IP4X)

DIMENSIONAL MEASUREMENTS:​

  • Accurate measurement and recording of componentry

ELECTRICAL TESTS & MEASUREMENTS:​

  • DC Power Supply Voltage Tests (0 to 60V DC)

  • Fast Transient DC Voltage Supply Tests

  • Dielectric Strength/Withstand Voltage

  • Insulation Resistance

  • Dry Circuit Resistance

  • DC Voltage, Current and Resistance Measurements.

CORROSION TESTS:​

  • Neutral Salt Spray Test (NSS)

  • Vernier Calliper Calibration

  • Weighing Scale Calibration

EMC TESTS:​

  • Electrostatic Discharge Test (Up to ±30kV)​

PAINT TESTS & MEASUREMENTS:​

  • Paint Adhesion (Cross hatch, X-Cut, Water bath soak Test)

  • Non-destructive coating thickness measurement Test (Eddy Current Method)

  • Colour and Gloss Measurements
